I've taken part in some NATO games lately, and I've noticed that a base
ogg doesn't need to be ended with a 'GULP!' to be succesfull. I wonder
if anyone has noticed (of course they have), but even the ET seems to
rush to their base when it is ogged. So maybe it's a good idea to
introduce the 'tactical base ogg'.

When the enemy base comes close to the front, and you have a spare
carrier and some armies, ogg the base with 5 players! Most of the time,
the carrier will be able to take planets unescorted, because all
enemies will rush to their base to safe it. To make it completely
succesfull, the captain should announce a 'final wave', in which not
the base, but the defenders with kills are ogged. Result: one or two
planets taken, and the base driven back in his/her own core. Of course,
if the ogg seems to be succesfull enough, the captain can change it to
a full base ogg, to kill the base.
What do you, the real netrek nerds, think about this twink-idea? Has it been proposed earlier, has it been tested, and found ineffective? (Hard to imagine, it worked against the ET). Sjoerd (Zwa)

I am sorry to say that this is an old idea. It can be very effective
though, but it is not that easy to implement. Good teams know of this
and save some controller to stop an easy take of some important planet.

Base oggs IMHO need every man. If you only wanna push back the base you
can do it with 3 guys. Good teams know that the enemy carries and if
the base is empty it can die. And you should know that ET base defence
and ogging is not the finest in netrek history. HE with a Rick base
and a Seven Samurai(+1) setup had a base at the front all the time. It
was great to see Rick ruling DEN in a FED-ORI(HE) war.
