A couple of tips for taking planets If you are closing towards the planet uncloaked, planning to cloak and orbit, and have a fair amount of fuel fire 8 torps before you cloak. That forces enemies to deal with these torps (dodging, detting, sucking...) for a few seconds -- the few seconds you are dropping the armies.

If torps come at you while you are beaming be prepared to det them. Often you should raise sheilds and det -- if your shields are beat up, or enemies are about to control the planet you might be better off detting on your hull to save time. If you det decently well you greatly increase your chances of taking (since you are orbiting you can't dodge very well, which makes it a very good time to det).
